Te Pōkaitahi Reo and Mātauranga Māori Courses

These Māori language courses are open to all learners with options for beginners through to intermediate and more advanced levels with full immersion options.

Graduates of these te reo Māori courses will obtain an understanding and awareness of te reo Māori that can be used amongst whānau, hapū, iwi and community as well as in employment.

They are also pathways into the higher-level Bachelor of Mātauranga Māori degree programme.

These programmes provide a pathway to develop skills and knowledge to protect, maintain and enrich mātauranga taonga tuku iho - traditional knowledge, for current and future generations.

 

Te Pōkaitahi Reo Level 1
Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Rumaki, Reo Rua) (Te Kaupae 1)
Beginners Māori language course providing an introduction to te reo Māori.
Te Pōkaitahi Reo Level 2
Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Rumaki, Reo Rua) (Te Kaupae 2)
A level 2 Māori language course for learners with a basic understanding of the language. Learn to communicate in familiar everyday contexts.
Te Pōkaitahi Reo Level 3
Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Rumaki, Reo Rua) (Te Kaupae 3)
A level 3 Māori language programme for learners who understand and use te reo Māori at an intermediate level.
Te Pōkaitahi Reo Level 4
Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Rumaki, Reo Rua) (Te Kaupae 4)
This level 4 programme is intended for learners who understand and use te reo at an advanced-intermediate level.
Te Pōkaitahi Reo Level 5
Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Rumaki) (Te Kaupae 5)
This full immersion level 5 programme is intended for emerging speakers of te reo Māori with an advanced understanding of the language.
Te Pōkaitahi Reo Level 6
Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Rumaki) (Te Kaupae 6)
This full immersion level 6 programme is intended for highly competent speakers of te reo Māori who have a desire to contribute positively to the development of the language.
Bachelor of Mātauranga Māori
Bachelor of Mātauranga Māori
This degree is underpinned by a kaupapa Māori philosophy where Māori values and practices are applied. This programme has been designed to capture and express the relatedness of the various fields of Māori knowledge.
