Awhi Tauira Learning Support Facilitator

Learner facilitators from the Awhi Tauira Student Support Team assist tauira enrolled in our on-site programmes in Whakatāne, Tāmaki Makaurau, Wairoa, and Kaikohe. Additionally, off-site locations, including marae and other delivery venues dispersed across the motu, receive assistance. The modalities of delivery encompass classroom instruction, noho marae, Wānanga, and online (eWānanga) learning, which are conducted on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
The Learner Success team is responsible for putting support, encouragement, and co-creation at the heart of the Tauira learning journey. It achieves this by:
· Establishing and maintaining a network of collaborative relationships within the team, across and outside the wānanga, to help deliver the Learner Success Framework.
· Working across the wānanga to ensure successful implementation and areas for improvement (including evaluations) to optimise our tauira success experience.
· Identifying opportunities, risks and advice that will ensure effective delivery of the Learner Success workplan.
We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Learning Support Facilitator to take responsibility in facilitating student learner support to students that will assist them in completing their chosen programme of study and become independent learners.
As the right candidate, you will have a combination of skills and experiences that reflect an outstanding background in the delivery of similar. Being a problem solver, you will demonstrate an ability to identify roadblocks, assess alternative approaches and implement appropriate solutions. Your background in working with tauira will enable you to plan and deliver support and engagement activities that contribute to Learner Success specifically.
In addition, your excellent people skills will be a key factor in establishing strong connections and close relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Our successful applicant will also have:
· A minimum of a masters’ qualification, and a graduate degree relevant to the wānanga portfolio of programmes.
· At least 2 years’ experience working in a student learning support/advisory type role.
· Adult teaching experience and a teaching qualification, preferably adult teaching.
· Experience working or assisting others in an online environment.
· Previous experience in the tertiary sector/environment.
· Competent at understanding and following academic processes and procedures.
· Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite – MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel, Project, Power Point to at least an intermediate level.
· A current unrestricted private motor vehicle licence.
Knowledge of tikanga Māori and the ability to kōrero Te Reo Māori to at least an intermediate level of competency is required.
