Ngā Whakataetae ā Rohe o Mataatua - Mataatua Senior Kapa Haka Regionals brings together the best of kapa haka talent across the rohe of Mataatua, celebrating te reo Māori, tikanga, and mana motuhake through world-class performance and whanaungatanga.
This event will attract thousands of performers, whānau, and visitors, providing a powerful platform to showcase culture, kapa haka excellence and regional pride. The event is this year being hosted by te iwi o Te Whānau a Apanui with the support of Ngāti Awa.
The 2026 competition will feature kapa haka vying for a place to represent the rohe at Te Matatini 2027.
Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi are once again proud to be a sponsor of this biennual kaupapa as a place of educational excellence in te ao haka.
