The purpose of this research is to recognise tangata whenua as intentional partners, co-designers, and contributors in the New Zealand technology sector.

The investigation explores the current state of Māori participation in tech, with a focus on how engagement, capability, and capacity can be strengthened to amplify Māori contributions within Aotearoa and globally. Over a 12-month period, the research gathered insights from over 30 esteemed Māori tech practitioners, showcasing their contributions to the sector. The findings also highlight the ongoing frustrations, needs, and aspirations of Māori entrepreneurs and innovators.
