Abundant Intelligences Aotearoa contributes to shaping a future where Indigenous peoples are active leaders and decision-makers in the development, governance, and application of Artificial Intelligence.

By centering Indigenous epistemologies, languages, values, and aspirations, the research challenges dominant approaches to AI and advances technologies that are more culturally grounded, ethically responsible, and responsive to Indigenous sovereignty.

Through international collaboration, mentoring, research capability development, and knowledge sharing, the programme strengthens Indigenous research networks and creates pathways for emerging researchers to contribute to the rapidly evolving field of AI. Ultimately, the research seeks to influence how AI is understood and developed, supporting language revitalisation, Indigenous innovation, and flourishing Indigenous futures.
