COVID-19 response: Thursday 18 June

The events of the past week, with two new cases of COVID-19 being announced in Aotearoa, reinforces that we are not out of the woods yet, and must remain vigilant.

We are still at Alert Level 1. This means we have some very clear, and easy, rules we need everyone on campus to continue to follow. These processes are compulsory, to protect you – to keep yourselves, and each other, safe. We do not want to be in a position where we are putting the health, safety, and wellbeing of others at risk, due to not following these simple and necessary procedures.

The rules are:

1. Single point of entry on Campus (Main Reception).
2. Once you have arrived at Main Reception, sign in and out from here using the free EVA QR code system, or manually – this is compulsory and important so that we can carry out contact tracing effectively should we need to. Visitors must also follow this process.
3. Maintain safe hygiene – this includes washing hands, use of sanitiser, wiping down touched surfaces regularly (especially in communal areas), coughing/sneezing into elbow or tissue and discarding used tissues in the bin immediately.
4. If you are sick, do not come to any of our campuses. If you are displaying flu-like symptoms, please contact your doctor or Healthline and make sure you get tested. If you are required to have a COVID-10 test, please inform your Kaiako or Manager as soon as possible.
5. Kaiako must send all class attendance sheets to Sue Green: sue.green@wananga.ac.nz

Also, while it is not compulsory to use the Government’s NZ COVID Tracer app, we encourage you to do so as well if you can, especially with COVID-19 still present in Aotearoa. Find out more here.

I urge everyone to remain committed to doing all they can to keep themselves and each other safe. We need to continue working collectively, as a team, to ensure a unified approach.

We need to ensure the same messages are understood by all our tauira and kaimahi, and we ask for your support in reinforcing these protocols in all your interactions with each other.
