Six graduates of Te Pou Hono ki Toi recently took part in a cultural exchange in Japan and Singapore, made possible through the Prime Minister’s Scholarship (PMS) awarded by New Zealand Education. 

The Ngāti Awa Scholarship has been instrumental in supporting the doctoral journey of Turumakina Duley at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi. 

Turumakina’s research focuses on how reinstating moko as a rite of passage across key life milestones can benefit the people of Ngāti Awa. 

Dr. Turuhira Hare, an esteemed Māori academic at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi, will serve as Kaiwhiriwhiri Matua (Head Judge) for the prestigious Te Matatini o te Kāhui Maunga 2025, leading a panel of 51 judges. 

Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi has welcomed its largest-ever intake for Te Ohanga Mataora – Bachelor of Health Science Māori Nursing, with 116  tauira beginning their 2025 journey this week.
