Value:

  • Valued at $5,000 each including GST

  • This scholarship will be credited towards paying the tuition fees of the successful applicant’s programme of study.

  • The remaining funds will be credited to their verified bank account as a one-off stipend payment.

  • If the awardee is in receipt of another scholarship or further funding for their study, they will be granted the balance between their existing scholarship/funding and the full potential Awanuiārangi scholarship.

Purpose of Award: The purpose of this award is to support undergraduate degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Māori Performing Arts tauira to complete their programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.

Eligibility: Applicants for the scholarship must be;

  • enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Māori Performing Arts at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi; AND

  • be a New Zealand citizen; OR a New Zealand permanent resident currently living in New Zealand

Criteria: Recipients will be selected on the following criteria:

  • Enrolment in the second year of any undergraduate full-time degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Māori Performing Arts at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi by Friday 20 March 2026;

  • TeachNZ scholarship recipients are not eligible for scholarships offered by Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.  If you are granted a TeachNZ scholarship and issued a scholarship from Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi, you must repay this scholarship to Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.

  • The Scholarships Committee will consider the applicants academic and scholarly achievements, and their contributions, and impact toward their community, whānau, hapū and iwi. The potential impact of their research will also be considered for the postgraduate diploma applicants.
