Lecturer - Bachelor of Mātauranga Māori
Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi is a vibrant tertiary education institution offering programmes from certificate to doctoral level across a range of disciplines.
We are seeking a full-time Lecturer to deliver the Bachelor of Mātauranga Māori programme. The programme is delivered through a blended model that includes online learning, face-to-face wānanga and noho. Teaching includes twice-weekly scheduled online classes and seven weekend wānanga noho from Friday to Sunday, with three noho delivered onsite at our Whakatāne campus and four delivered online.
Applicants must have:
· A minimum of a master’s degree relevant to Mātauranga Māori.
· A teaching qualification; an adult teaching qualification is preferred.
· Previous tertiary teaching experience, including teaching up to level 7.
· Experience delivering prescribed courses and programmes, particularly in Tikanga, Tū Marae, Tirohanga Rangahau, Te Ao Māori, Whakapapa, Maramataka and Hautūtanga.
· Relevant Mātauranga Māori practitioner experience in a marae context.
· Proven research experience, including research underpinned by Mātauranga Māori.
· Knowledge of Tikanga Māori and its application in Mātauranga Māori settings, including marae.
· Fluency in te reo Māori, or advanced te reo Māori competency, with the ability to deliver in both English and Māori.
· Established networks with relevant marae, hapū, iwi and community groups.
